Why Staying Fit Feels
So Hard Today
Many people want to live a healthier lifestyle, but daily life often gets in the way. Between busy schedules, demanding work, and low energy after a long day, staying consistent becomes difficult. Without a clear plan or structure, it’s easy to lose direction and motivation over time.

Understanding What Keeps People Consistent in Fitness
We conducted interviews with around 20 people aged 20–35 to understand their fitness habits, workout routines, and what helps them stay consistent and motivated in maintaining their exercise lifestyle.
The interviews were structured around the following key areas:
Fitness Habits & Behavior
How often do you work out each week?
What time of day do you usually exercise?
What is your current fitness routine like?
Do you prefer working out at home or at the gym?
Motivation & Consistency
What motivates you to exercise regularly?
What helps you stay consistent with your workouts?
Tracking & Engagement
Do you track your fitness progress? If yes, how?
Are you interested in trying new fitness programs or routines?
User Insights from Research
From the interviews, several clear patterns emerged in user fitness behavior and expectations:
User wants personalized recommendations and features tailored to their fitness goals, preferences, and fitness levels
Users find it important to keep track of their progress over time.
Users prefer a clean and intuitive interface that is easy to navigate.
Having a wide range of workout options to choose from such as cardio, strength training & yoga
Turning Research into User Personas
Based on our interviews, we created personas to better understand users’ fitness needs, including challenges such as lack of consistency, difficulty finding suitable workout plans, low motivation, and trouble tracking progress over time.

Activity
Proper workouts and quality sleep play an important role in maintaining overall health and well-being. By tracking progress, users can ensure their body is staying on the right path toward better fitness and recovery.
Sleep tracking also provides valuable insights into sleep duration, efficiency, and sleep stages, helping users understand how well their body is resting and recovering.

Typography
We use IBM Plex Sans to maintain a clean and neutral interface, ensuring high readability and consistency across the system, especially when displaying structured fitness and tracking data.
Color
The color system is functional, focusing on clarity and usability rather than decoration. Neutral tones provide structure and hierarchy across the interface, while subtle accent colors highlight interactive elements and guide attention when needed. The palette was chosen to support readability, reduce visual noise, and help users quickly understand the interface without feeling overwhelmed.

Key Learning
This project taught me that building a fitness app is less about offering more workouts and more about helping users stay consistent in real life. Most users don’t fail because they lack options, but because they struggle with time, motivation, and structure.
I also learned how important it is to simplify decision-making through clear onboarding, personalized recommendations, and guided experiences, especially for beginners who can easily feel overwhelmed.
Another key takeaway was the value of progress tracking when users can clearly see small improvements over time, they are more likely to stay motivated and continue their routine.
Finally, I understood that good UX in fitness is about reducing friction, making the experience feel effortless, and supporting users through their daily challenges rather than adding complexity.
